HOW IT ALL BEGAN.
KIPLING LAVENDER
ON THE MOUND.
Kipling Lavender on the Mound, LLC is located on the Southeast slope of the Mound, in Mound Township (established November 4, 1856(McDonough County, IL), just ¼ mile from the highest point in the county.

Going on nearly 60 years, the family farm was originally “Kipling Hatchery” a Chicken hatchery and egg production operation with multiple locations homing out of the main farm. The signature 3 story Chicken barn-boasting 59 windows, can be seen from the highway and is a local landmark constructed just after the close of WW2, from reclaimed wood sourced from the deconstruction of nearby historic Camp Ellis, (Ipava/Bernadotte). Listed among the Historic barns of Illinois, passersby have frequently stopped to snap photographs of the unique architectural design. After sitting idle for many years, the historic barn has been revived with the aromatic fragrance of fresh lavender drying in the rafters. The importance of the barn and family history has been incorporated into Kipling Lavender on the Mound logo design and provides an appropriate anchor for this family operation.
Just across the driveway, the building that was once a Chicken hatchery, is now being remodeled to become a lavender essential oil distillation facility-(our own lavender essential oil is used in our handmade lavender products), as well as a retail space for Kipling Lavender and Medical Mary Hemp derived CBD Products.
